Santa Fe Opera House

Santa Fe, New Mexico - Trip Overview

August 14-August 20, 2023

Travel with us to the unique and exciting city of Santa Fe.  Known as “The City Different", Santa Fe, the nation’s oldest capital city, is a place unlike any other in the world.  This trip, organized by Arts Connect in partnership with OperaLex willprovide the opportunity to experience all things Santa Fe.  Univerisity of Kentucky Opera Director Dr Everett McCorvey, and University of Kentucky Opera Coach Dr Tedrin Blair Lindsay along with co-host Kate Savage, Executive Director of Arts Connect, will be along to to share their incredible knowledge and expertise.

We will stay in a 4-star hotel right in the cultural heart of the lively historic Railyard District, just a short walk from the central Plaza.  Our schedule will allow you some time to do your own exploring, and shopping.

Here are some of the trip highlights:
  • 6 nights at the historic Hotel Santa Fe and Spa, a tradition-centric retreat that invites you to experience true hospitality in the city's only Native American owned hotel.  Swimming pool, restaurant, cocktail lounge and spa treatments all on site.
  • Daily lunch and dinner as a group will be provided.  Breakfast on your own.
  • Best seats in the house for all five of the Santa Fe Opera 2023 performances.  The Santa Fe Opera is renowned worldwide for its contribution to a living artform and for the passion it inspires in performers and audiences alike.  Experience the awesomeness of these outside canopied performances whilst watching the sun set over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
  • We will visit The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum that houses the largest collect of O'Keeffe work in the world.  Drive out to Ghost Ranch where we will see some landscapes that she painted later in life, and then tour her home in Abiquiu.
  • We will treat ourselves to a day at Ten Thousand Waves Spa and soak up some serious ryokan vibes from this Japanese style spa-centric sanctuary, then lunch at Izanami where they serve upscale izakaya fare--small plates served in a casual atmosphere with the most extensive selection of premium Japanese sake.
  • A guided tour of the Museum of International Folk Art.
  • An afternoon recital at the Santa Fe Chamber Musical Festival held in the Santa Fe Museum of Art, with a box lunch and docent-led tour to follow.
  • An added bonus is that we will be in Santa Fe for the famous Indian Market This remarkable event takes place on and around the central plaza in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and sponsors over one-thousand Native artists from more than one hundred tribal communities.
  • Informal, fun and informative 'Tedrin Talks' every day to prepare you for each evening's opera performance.
  • Plenty of time to explore other places of interest such as Canyon Road, Loretto Chapel and Palace of the Governors.
  • There may be some other attractions added to our itinerary.
