Episode 15 of the Art Throb Podcast features Chris McGinley who is the writer of COAL BLACK, a collection of crime stories published in 2019 and set in the hills of Appalachia and now, just recently published by Shotgun Honey, the full-length novel titled ONCE THESE HILLS. Set in the late-nineteenth century in what had been a quiet small settlement up on Black Boar Mountain in eastern Kentucky, ONCE THESE HILLS is an engaging tale of murder and justice. An appealing mix of history, suspense and folklore backdropped by the creeping threat of modern industrial development. Definitely not a beach book but as summer is almost over, this could be the perfect read for those long cold dark days ahead!
