Join us for Lexington's 14th annual downtown plein air painting extravaganza on Saturday 20th June 2026
This event is open to any artist wishing to participate.

The map with painting area boundaries is available on this web site and will also be provided at check-in .

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.  Registration fee is $50.00.

Registration before June 15th will include a box lunch with beverage.
All participants will also receive two tickets to the opening reception each with one complimentary drink
Registration fee is non-refundable unless the event is cancelled in which case there will be full refunds.

8:00 - 9:00am 
Check-in/In-Person Registration at DOWNTOWN PUBLIC LIBRARY,  140 East Main Street, Lexington, 
Blank Canvas(es) will be officially stamped at this time - 2 max Please provide your own substrate.
​Lunch boxes will be catered for those who have pre-registered
Water will also be available
Copies of the map indicating the designated painting boundaries will be available at check-in.  
​NOTE:  As of 2019 the painting boundaries were expanded.
8:00 - 2:00pm
Paint the Town 2026
Artists may select their own city scene to paint provided it is within the designated painting boundaries.
2:00 - 2:30pm
Turn in ready-to-hang work at DOWNTOWN PUBLIC LIBRARY 140 East Main Street, Lexington.  Some very limited assistance with last minute needs will be provided.  Stretched canvases need not be framed.  Works on paper will need to be under glass and framed.
3:00 - 5:00pm
Installation and Set Up for Opening Reception
5:00 - 6:00pm
Judging takes place.
7:30pm Award Presentations for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place and a "People's Choice" .
Voting for "People's Choice" ends at 7:15pm
6:30-9:00pm
Public exhibiton opening of the Lexington 2025 Paint the Town Exhibition and Reception at DOWNTOWN PUBLIC LIBRARY.
  • Artists' Reception is open to the public. Ticket price $50.00 each to include one drink.
  • Participating artists will each receive two complimentary reception tickets.
  • $25 of ticket price can be applied to the purchase price of any art work bought during the opening event. One ticket discount only per one artwork.
  • All art work will be available for sale that evening through Sunday, 12th July 2026.
  • Artists to receive 70% of sale price.​ ​
  • Sales commission payment of 30%  received by Arts Connect will be used to support their non-profit mission to provide programs, resources and services to the community. 
  • Presentation of Awards for First, Second and Third Place as well as People's Choice to take place around 7:30pm.
