MASTER PIECES: 16th Annual International Exhibit for MFA/MA Graduate Students     NEW DEADLINE
Deadline: May 15, 2022
Entry Fee: $25 for one entry, $40 for two to four entries, and $5 per each additional entry.
Open to: current graduate students and MFA/MA degree recipients since January 2021
Exhibit Dates: July 8 - August 5, 2022
Location: Manifest Gallery (Cincinnati, OH)
Contact: Jason Franz, info@manifestgallery.org
Additional Information: The Cincinnati based non-profit arts organization and gallery, Manifest, invites current visual arts and design graduate students and MFA/MA degree recipients since January 2021 to submit works of art in any media, genre, subject matter, or content, traditional and non-traditional.
Every year Manifest offers an opportunity just for graduate students to exhibit at our gallery in Cincinnati. This 16th installment of the Master Pieces project will continue to reveal the intensity and professionalism of students working towards their terminal academic degree in the field of art or design. Often the most exceptional work comes out of these artists’ immersion in their culture of study and intellectual pursuit. Manifest’s goal, therefore, is to select works that set the standard of quality that the artist is expected to maintain throughout his or her professional career and justify the degree of Master.

OBSOLETE: Call for Works About Becoming Outdated or No Longer Useful    NEW DEADLINE
Deadline: May 15, 2022
Entry Fee: $40 for up to FOUR entries submitted. $5 per each additional entry.
Open to: Open Internationally
Exhibit Dates: July 8 - August 5, 2022
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Contact: Jason Franz, info@manifestgallery.org
Additional Information: The Cincinnati based non-profit arts organization and gallery, Manifest, invites visual artists and designers to submit original works of art about becoming outdated or no longer useful. Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional visual arts 2d or 3d media.
How long does something matter?
How long is a thing in vogue?
At what point is something worn out, no longer useful, unredeemable?
Obsolesence is often recognized like an afterthought, after we’ve already moved on from a thing’s purpose. Our bodies are littered with evidence of our biological histories, from our appendix, to the tailbone, to wisdom teeth. Goosebumps will spread across our skin, a vestigial response to cold or fear, but we lack the heavy hairs that would warm us or make us appear larger.
Many objects, ideas, and communication styles we use don’t last a lifetime, some hardly last a full year. We shape our habits around tools with shelf lives—how long can you trust a phone charger to remain compatible?
Sometimes obsolescence is planned. A lightbulb is designed with its lifetime already measured. A company can choose to no longer support a machine, a program, an operating system, and we know then that its days are numbered.
There is an existential threat along with this ecological one—if your CD player is now sitting on a shelf, gathering dust, how much of that metaphorical dust is falling to rest on you? Rather than being frightening, could it be a relief to no longer be relevant?
Can something be obsolete, but still have worth? If so, what does that look like?
OBSOLETE will be an exhibition about the vestigial, the replaced, the out-of-style, and the things that remain without necessarily being dead.
ANNUAL CASH AWARD: The annual Manifest Grand Jury Prize will result in the awarding of one significant cash prize ($5000) to a single work selected as the 'best of the entire season'.

Works may also include "natural" media, in terms of the materials used and can be of a political nature, so as long as they are free from overt messaging and convey the ideals of neutrality.
From a sales standpoint, we are seeking artwork that may appeals to the "neutral" in home or other decor. Photography should ideally be greyscale. Sculpture is also welcome. Works are accepted from Emerging, Mid-Career, and/or Professional Artists. .

NUDE: 14th Annual Exhibit Exploring the Uncovered Human Form in Current Art     NEW
Deadline: June 4, 2022
Entry Fee: $40 for up to FOUR entries submitted. $5 per each additional entry.
Exhibit Dates: August 12 - September 9, 2022
Open to: open internationally
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Contact: Jason Franz, info@manifestgallery.org
Additional Information: The Cincinnati based non-profit arts organization and gallery, Manifest, invites visual artists and designers to submit original works that address the uncovered human form in current art. Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional 2D and 3D visual arts media. The human body is a popular subject for many reasons, the most obvious being that it is us. Throughout history (and pre-history) the representation of the human form has been charged with tremendous energy. Whether it be a religious edict that one should not depict the human form—a taboo, or the glorious opposite—a revelation of mastery over form in the crafting of sensuous and life-like physical human beauty, the art of the body has moved us through time. Through all the permutations art has experienced across history, work of the body persists. We use the human nude to master skill, understand ourselves, and push social and psychological buttons for the sake of expression (sensual, delicate, political, social, narrative, spiritual, and so on). We intend for Manifest's ongoing annual NUDE project, now in its 14th year, to explore how our collective body is used today in art to achieve these goals and more. This year we are again happy to offer our invitation to artists to submit works in any media, of any style or genre (abstract, conceptual, realistic, etc.), and of any size, for consideration in Manifest's 14th annual NUDE, an international competitive exhibit exploring the uncovered human form in current art. ANNUAL CASH AWARD: The annual Manifest Grand Jury Prize will result in the awarding of one significant cash prize ($5000) to a single work selected as the 'best of the entire season'.

ARTIFEX EX MACHINA: Call for Works Made in Collaboration with, or About Machines    NEW
Deadline: June 12, 2022
Entry Fee: $40 for up to FOUR entries submitted. $5 per each additional entry.
Exhibit Dates: August 12 - September 9, 2022
Open to: open internationally
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Contact: Jason Franz, info@manifestgallery.org
Additional Information: The Cincinnati based non-profit arts organization and gallery, Manifest, invites visual artists and designers to submit original works made with the aid of, in collaboration with, or about machines and mechanical processes. Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional visual arts 2d, 3d, or 4d media. What machines do you use every day? What possibilities have they created for you? Do you ever use them to make art? Are you making art better, faster, stronger because of machines? Machines ease our work. We design them to amplify the effort of our bodies, and to harness larger forces and focus that energy on a task. Using machines, we can produce objects on a larger scale, make them more complex, and work more quickly, sometimes efficiently.  The machine also contorts and changes our idea on its way to the final product, and it shapes our practice as we adapt to it. We can’t put an idea into a machine and print the idea out; we have to work in conversation with its capacity. What does the hand of the machine look like? Are you hiding it, or do you let its mark remain? Is the effort of a machine beautiful? Do you work with the machine, or do you use the machine? Or, does it use you? Does the machine need you? Artifex Ex Machina is a call for works made with the aid of, in collaboration with, or about machines and mechanical processes. ANNUAL CASH AWARD: The annual Manifest Grand Jury Prize will result in the awarding of one significant cash prize ($5000) to a single work selected as the 'best of the entire season'.

STAGED: Call for Works Made with Direction, and Careful, Meticulous Planning   NEW
Deadline: June 15, 2022
Entry Fee: $40 for up to FOUR entries submitted. $5 per each additional entry.
Exhibit Dates: August 12 - September 9, 2022
Open to: open internationally
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Contact: Jason Franz, info@manifestgallery.org
Additional Information: The Cincinnati based non-profit arts organization and gallery, Manifest, invites visual artists and designers to submit original works made with direction, through careful planning, and a significant degree of control. Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional visual arts 2d, 3d, or 4d media. What kind of director are you? When you prepare to make something, what are you getting ready? Yourself? Your materials? Your subject? What elements have to be in place? If they don’t fall naturally, can you place them yourself? To stage something often means to fake it, but we mostly agree that some degree of fiction is acceptable, even necessary to create art. There are truths that we can access through writing lines, arranging compositions, setting conditions, or posing subjects that remain true, even if the elements telling them are artificial. Conceptually, staging something creates opportunity for the artist to impose their wants, biases, and ideas with greater focus. The obvious next question is if you stage an artwork, what is your motive? ANNUAL CASH AWARD: The annual Manifest Grand Jury Prize will result in the awarding of one significant cash prize ($5000) to a single work selected as the 'best of the entire season'.

  HOW TO BE BEAUTIFUL
Open call for digital art in new WheelHouse Art NFT fine art gallery    NEW
Deadline: October 15, 2023
Entry Fee: FREE
Exhibit Dates: Ongoing
Open to: US residents, age 18+

Location: LOUISVILLE - Online
Contact: Daniel Pfalzgraf, hello@wheelhouse.art
Additional Information: WheelHouse Art, LLC is thrilled to share news with artists about launching Louisville, KY's first contemporary fine art NFT gallery. And as we gear up towards our big public launch, we are seeking submissions by artists who would like to be considered for inclusion in our NFT gallery.
WheelHouse Art is positioning itself as a kind of conductor for art collectors, guiding our audiences between physical and digital media. We believe there are a lot of digital-curious collectors out there, and we are excited about the possibilities this new format can provide. But until now, the barrier for entry into the NFT experience has been higher than many are willing to take on. We are excited to partner with Dime, a new platform that will make the entire experience much simpler and easier to navigate.
What is WHA looking for?
WHA will straddle the line between physical and digital art. We are looking for digital art primarily, but will also consider some artists who have only worked in traditional media, but whose work would translate well digitally. Artists who are comfortable working in both digital and traditional media are an added bonus as there will be opportunities to tie together NFT and physical artwork sales together. Experience with NFTs, minting, or cryptocurrency is not required.
WheelHouse Art will be showing work by some of the artists already represented by the gallery, but we are also opening things up to artists who don't have any history exhibiting at WheelHouse Art (or B. Deemer Gallery formerly), provided they aren't already in conflicting exclusive representation relationships with other galleries.
To submit work, simply shoot an email to Hello@WheelHouse.art and write "NFT Art Submission" in the subject line. Then just share a sample of your work (attachments, website, social links, etc.) and any other relevant information about you and your artwork that would be helpful to know.
Thanks in advance for sharing your work and passion with us. We love seeing and learning about artwork and artists, even if we don't show your work here. Please feel free to share this with any artists you think may be interested.

Francisco's Farm Art Fair
Deadline: May 11, 2022
Fee: $275
Open to: Fine Arts
Event Dates: June 11th & 12th
Location: Downtown, Midway, Kentucky
Contact Name: Elisha Holt, elisha@franciscosfarm.org
Additional Information: OUR HISTORY
The Midway Renaissance named the event for Colonel John Francisco, the original owner of the property on which the city of Midway now stands. In 1835, Francisco sold his farm to the Lexington and Ohio Railroad. The L&O planned and built Midway, Kentucky’s first railroad town, so named because it is halfway between Lexington and Frankfort, the state capital. The festival premiered on the campus of Midway University, in 2004. After appearances at Equus Run winery from 2011-2013, the Festival returned to the campus and has now become an annual festival in May. In 2018, the fair received new logo and a new name, Francisco’s Farm Art Fair. The committee contracted local graphic designers, Sara and Lee Busick (15United) to design a new logo, website and marketing materials. In 2020, the fair was canceled due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. In 2021, the fair will temporarily move to the streets of Historic Downtown Midway.
