11.      Moving Through Emotions

To live life well, we must live with all we are. To feel is sometimes like a great storm that buffets us about. Learning to fully experience our emotions in a healthy manner—none of them bad unless we take unhealthy actions—is one of the greatest teachers and experiences of being human. After all, one cannot sing the high notes without healthy low notes. Great beauty uniquely moves a soul that has known great loss. And joy is dependent on our capacity to experience the lower notes of our emotional range.
