Why is the project called Here Today...?
Our society had been told to isolate, to stay inside, not to travel unnecessarily or go out unless vital, to wear a mask, social distance, avoid touching - all of which is so foreign to us. The future seems uncertain and suddenly every moment becomes precious. We are reminded that life is fragile and, here today... gone tomorrow. But also, there is hope because we know that just as the virus is here today at some point it will be gone tomorrow. A sense of immediacy is also suggested as in Here! Today! So don't delay!
Through this project we hope to record the experiences and emotions provoked by these thoughts.
So for both those whose lives have been forced to slow down and those working at a hectic pace, we hope this project will provide an opportunity to record a personal experience or observance through a captured image. And that by bringing together these individual moments we can create a collective portrait of lockdown reflecting resilience and bravery, humor and sadness, creativity and kindness and tragedy and hope in our valiant state Kentucky.
