Arts Connects Summer 2018 Talk and Tour Series is a two-part program that will provide an inside look at the exhibitions Terracotta Army: Legacy of the First Emperor of China at the Cincinnati Art Museum and Louis Comfort Tiffany: Treasures from the Driehaus Collection at the Taft Art Museum.
During the Talk on Tuesday, 22nd May, we shall examine and discuss the Terracotta Army exhibition which features 120 objects. More than 40 of these works have never been seen in the US before this exhibition. Dating from 770-206BC, these works of art, excavated from the emperor's mausoleum as well as aristocratic and nomadic tombs, richly reflect history, myths and burial practices in ancient China, In addition to the nine life-size terracotta figures, the exhibition includes a cavalry horse, arms and armor ritual bronze vessels, works in gold and silver jade ornaments, precious jewelry and ceramics. Then on Thursday, 24th May we shall travel to Cincinnati to see the Terracotta Army exhibition in the morning and followed by the Louis Comfort Tiffany exhibition at the Taft Museum in the afternoon. Deborah Borrowdale-Cox will lead these tours. In between exhibitions we will enjoy lunch at the Mt. Adam's Bar and Grill. Plan to make a day of it! Spaces are limited, so please register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. |
